Premiere: 17.09.2016

Biographie:

Omri Vitis and Guy Strier first met at a music shop in Tel Aviv. This was a short time after Vitis had returned to Israel from a 16-year stay in London, where he wrote, performed and recorded with local bands. He was signed to Fire Records (Pulp, Teenage Fan Club, etc.) and later, to Organic Records. Vitis, a singer-songwriter, was born and raised on Kibbutz Dalia in northern Israel. Mysterious and mystical are some of the words that have been used to describe Vitis‘ unique performances. The powerful and evocative melodies draw listeners in. The songs may sound familiar, bringing back memories that may not necessarily be the listener’s, but might feel as if they were. Strier was born and raised in the southern desert town of Arad, which is located above the slopes of The Dead Sea. He began playing guitar, drums and other musical instruments during his early childhood in Arad. Soon after finishing his compulsory military service, Strier moved to Tel Aviv. With influences such as Jimmy Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Cream, he soon became one of the most sought after guitarists on the Tel Aviv music scene. Strier currently plays bass and guitar in several indie bands and recently formed his own power trio, Maga, where he is lead singer and guitarist. The idea behind the formation of the acoustic duo Vitis & Strier was to play new as well as older songs from Vitis’ long stretching career. With melodic notes and meaningful lyrics, Vitis takes his audiences on a journey. Middle Eastern sounds mingle with western influences from bands such as Arcade Fire, Simon and Garfunkel, Nirvana, Neil Young, Bob Dylan and others. Strier’s lush harmonies and powerful harmonica give Omri’s songs a comfortable, raw environment in which to live. In 2013, Vitis toured Germany together with musicians from The Sohne Mannhiems and Die Zollner, and was warmly welcomed by local audiences and music lovers. He looks forward to touring Germany again, this time with Guy Strier, in the fall of 2016.
